About Our Branding

The banner is a stylized version of the rod of Asclepius, an ancient Greek symbol associated with the healing of the sick through medicine. Asclepius, the son of the Greek god Apollo, was a practitioner of medicine in ancient Greek mythology. The snake is commonly accepted to be a rat snake, Elaphe longissima, native to southeastern Europe and Asia Minor, apparently brought there by Romans for their healing properties.

The snake depicted in the ATS banner logo is a corn snake, Pantherophis guttatus, a species of rat snake that is found throughout the central and southeastern United States. We took this small liberty in recognition of two facts. First, our offices are located in Oklahoma. Second, frankly, the corn snake is much more attractive as a mascot!
